how do I connect my mr1100 to spectrum cable modem

I use at&t and get throttled due to 'bandwidth' use over 22GB. I subscribed to Spectrum cable and want to offload to the cable internet to save my 'bandwidth' for my mobile devices like phones, tablets, laptops while travelling or away from my home location. So, I plugged a ethernet jumper into the MR1100 and into the Spectrum Modem, and still don't seem to have everything working correctly. Should I add a switch in between the two (modem and router)? Any suggestions?

You can't just connect the hotspot to a modem and extect it to act as a router. Its not a dual wan device or even a simple router. Its a cellular hotspot.
When you're home you need to go
spectrum modem---- standard router
shut off the hotspot while home.

Nice answer but does not solve any problems. I'm close, and I inserted a switch into the connnection, so that the MR1100 connects to a switch port and the Spectrum modem connects to a switch port. To eliminate an address conflict, I changed the MR1100 default to 192.168.2.1 and it readdressed the connections into the wifi. I don't want to re connect my mobile devices whenever I return to my home location. I want them to automatically seek and connect to my wii which is the MR1100. I just want them to have access to the cable based internet and to which ever is the most efficient system based on whether the cellular based systems are overloaded or clear of band compression.
I know that was long winded, and, no, I don't have all the kinks worked out. I want to integrate some more old routers into the system so that the wifi coverage in my house will improve. Step one is getting the data offloading and the wifi offloading details correct.
Please keep offering solutions. The detail of changing the MR100 default to 192-168.2.1 came from this forum. I made the change and that works great. Now on to the other 'glitches'. Any good reference to 'data off-loading' and 'wifi-offloading'? I would like to study the mechanics of how that is supposed to work. I don't think I am there, yet.
Thanks for any help,
Wayne

Search for a dual wan router.
Then you can connect both the spectrum modem to it and the MR1100 to it.
You can load balance, setup fail-over.
but the mr1100 doesn't have dual wan options to set that up with.

OK, I like that answer. I'm also open to suggestion as to model and manufacturer. I have the Spectrum provided modem with my 'ultra' package (400mb) and when the installer showed up I got him to provide the RG11 cable in case I will upgrade, later. With all the services going to 'streaming' and hogging the bandwidth, I'm sure I will need all available.
So, feel free to elaborate on a router and some pointers as to where to go to study about those boxes.
Thanks, I do appreciate your comments and suggestions....
