LB1120 speed slower than hotspot in same room

LB1120 with Google Fi data only sim download speed seemed to be limited to 8mbps. Same computer, same download test but using a Google Pixel 3a as a hot spot got >120mbps download speed. What should I try to speed up LB1120. (I got it hoping not to use the phone as a hotspot).
