With a monolithic Cable Modem and Router you can't loop the LB2120 into the the public WAN/Internet Ethernet connection (which in my understanding must be transparent IP, no PPPoE/PPTP/PPPoA or the like encapsulation) as it's shown in the quick start guide and certainly the user manual, too.
As there is only a cable network antenna connector on all these Virgin superhub and hub 3, 4. ..., this set-up is not possible.
if you need this fail-over option, there is no other way than re-configuring the Virgin CPE to a pure modem, and add a dedicated router/wireless router/Mesh router.

I use a nighthawk router connected to the superhub in modem mode. That should meet the intended design
