LM1200 Not connecting to LTE without wired link working

I have an LM1200 which I was hoping to use as an LTE only as a bridge device for a sim with a static ip address. It currently will not obtain LTE connection (verizon) without a wired WAN link connected and usable. If the wired link is connected and usable, the device immediately is able to obtain an IP address via the LTE and reports the correct address.

If i disconnect the wired link or set the device to operate mobile online, it failed to establish LTE connections and does not bring up the LAN port.

Are there tricks or workarounds for this?
