From what I understand, there is not Ethernet hardware switch, much more the LM1200 (and similar devices with a dual LAN and WAN port) are implemented on a software bridge. JohnPeng or mcuadrado have certainly some more insight.
"just updated" isn't the greatest information where a version number would be much more informative. But i understand such an impact for what is supposed to driving a typical 1 Gb Internet connection isn't acceptable.
