M6 Pro MR6550 Faulty Power Adapter

I got a M6 Pro Unlocked MR6550 for a US colleague, and when using the original power brick and cable, the nighthawk doesn’t boot and says “use the supplied power adapter when operating without batter...

I purchased a used M6 Pro that did not come with the power adapter.  I saw the same error when I tried to run with the battery removed.  I tried several different power adapters and still received the same warning message.  In another forum someone said they solved it by using a Quick Charge 2.0 power supply.  I tried a Quick Charge 3.0 power adapter and the problem went away.

 

I am speculating that Netgear may be monitoring the Quick Charge hand shaking protocol and if it is not detected  (the adapters I tried were not labeled Quick Charge compliant), it gives the warning message.  I have now tried two different QC 3.0 power adapters that work fine.
