Have you tried accessing the webGUI and see if the error appears? Might also help if you take a pic to the actual LCD display next you see this message and post here. that will help other be aware of this mysterious error message. I would also assume you have it on the latest FW?

I always use the browser based admin as the device LED is way to small to display meaningful data for my poor old eyesight. No errors are listed except "Data usage unavailable" but unneeded so I ignore it. Other then that everything else is as I set it up and no errors reported.
Initially I was interested in the icon meaning and am now more surprised the Netgear don't list the icons on their support page or in any available manuals. I just think that is an oversight on their part.
Thanks for your input on this.

If the icon is there it must be part of the software. Whoever designed it must know what it is for. You would believe that technical support would know what it means too. I purchased a car a last year, it had a recuring issue, the dealer did not know what caused it. They kept flogging me off. I did some more searching and found out the the issue was known and had been before I purchased the car. Only a small number of cars had the issue. They didn't know how to fix it so they kept ignoring the problem, I pushed harder and they bought the vehicle back.
I believe a similar thing is going on here. It's cheaper to ignore our problems and we might go away. If they admit there is a problem they would have to replace all the device and pay compensation. As Toyota has had to do with the DPF issue.

Scary thought. Well done with the car problem.
