Mesh network problem

I have this modem hooked up with verizon service.  If it is directly plugged into my computer, it works great.  Fast service and no disconnects.  When I hook it up to my google wifi mesh router, I have constant drop outs and very slow response time.  I have the modem hooked up as a bridge.  Are there any other configurations that need to be changed in order for this to work?
