Mobile Nighthawk M5 connection to Home router

Object: connecting all my home internet devices to mobile nighthawk M5 via home router ie better wifi coverage.

What setting do I have to change to connect my home router to the Mobile Nighthawk M5.

I am assuming that in the Mobile router setup, turning on IP passthrough, turn off DHCP.

Then plug ethernet cable from nighthawk to home router, reboot both.

I have seen some mention of bridged connections, is that necessary.

  • You should still able to use the ethernet ports on the asus.

the difference basically comes down to which features you want to use.

In passthrough mode, the routing functions on the netgear are disabled, its a modem only device.

In the asus, you'd have to check with their forums/support on what features are disabled in their access point mode.

  • what home router do you have?

You could put the M5 in passthrough mode or you could put your home router in access point mode and hardwire it in

The home router is an ASUS RT-ac68U.

I have been having ongoing issues with broadband provider, and I thought of ditching them and getting a netgear nighthawk M6/pro when they come in Australia later this month.  I don't actually have a mobile router yet, but made this inquiry in anticipation of getting one.

Also take the mobile nighthawk with me traveling would be a bonus.

I read about the pass through method, but not sure about router access point method, would like to know more.
