MR 6550 M6 Pro how to run without battery and still access telnet port 5510

Hi I have a M6 pro working with battery and tethered to a PC. This works fine and I can access the telnet 5510 port and send AT commands to configure and control the modem. However the telnet connection drops after a few hours even though I am querying the modems state ever 30 seconds. I tried to run it without battery and discovered that it will not boot unless I connect it to the usb power adapter it came with. In this mode I can no longer access the 5510 port. I tried to connect via wifi as the usb tether port is no longer available. But I can not connect to the normal 192.168.1.1 5510 telnet port.

Is there any workaround for this issue, either some configuration to avoid the telnet disconnect or find a way to access the telnet while powered by the usb adapter.
