MR1100 mobile hotspot router will not connect to network.

Have just replaced the battery in my mr1100 hotspot for ATT broadband. Battery has about half charge and is charging in the device now. However, it will not connect to the broadband signal now.

The old battery swelled a bit and died. It had not been discharged or unplugged in a long time. Now understand that's not recommended. I thought that the battery issue was caught before any damage was done. But there is something wrong.

The SIM card does sit under the battery. Could a SIM get hot and malfunction?
