MR1100 says connected but NO internet
Please help me figure this out. I have a MR1100 hotspot, using an AT&T sim card with grandfathered Unlimited plan on a PRE paid plan. I have used this for over 2 years but on thursday it stopped work...

Oops fatfingered the itty bitty iphone keys...
make that first 8 as:

I purchased the sim at an ATT franchise store who set it up but provided no further info, sorry.
Is there a resource for finding these APNs in RT online in future?
Thanks in advance !

Thanks for providing the ICCID of your SIM card. I can confirm that the SIM card is new AT&T SIM profile and it is not supported in MR1100 APN database.
Please log in to WebUI and change or edit the APN.
If it is regular AT&T LTE service, please use broadband
If it is Firstnet service, please use firstnet-broadband
You can search online and these APNs can be found easily. But it always easier to ask the service provider or resaler since different type of devices, APN may be different.
Thanks

- KS1256Jan 20, 2022AspirantJohn, where exactly do I "log in for WebUI"
Do you mean the Netgear Mobile App for IOS cannot do this and I should use the Iphone native Safari browser, or should I fire up the Windows laptop?
What address to access the Netgear Nighthawk, "webUI"
assuming its visible to laptop wifi?
And what link specifically do you recommend online to find cell carrier APNs?
I'm assuming the Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 would be listed by ATT prepaid "GoPhone now called Paygonline" since ATT is one of the big three,
And Prepaid side has an especially good data only deal at $50/mo for 100gb data...
But you know how it goes calling customer support Tier One at Paygo...nice folks but limited to the script.
So I like to go to the source online.
Ps: "Blanca" please follow this convo with John Peng, and defer to his step by steps so we all get one good answer on a commonly asked question:
"How to manually configure APN on ME1100 on ATT prepaid sim cards."
(Since "thats not info currently maintained in Netgears MR1100 Mobile App interface drop down data" - JohnPengJan 20, 2022NETGEAR Expert

(Since "thats not info currently maintained in Netgears MR1100 Mobile App interface drop down data"Please refer to the user manual attached. It covers how to log in to WebUI from a browser on your computer and Mobile App from your phone on Page 13.
APN setting is covered on Page 33.
You can search AT&T APNs to find the APNs used in AT&T. But you need to know which one is suitable for yoru SIM card. It is better to ask the SIM seller.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any issues on your setup.
Thanks

John, others:
Quick update- powering up the Netgear via the WebGUI on a pc, vs mobile device works
AirCard Mobile Hotspot and Mobile Router Login Information | Answer | NETGEAR Support
ATT SIM card populated the manual ADD option,
showed ATT prepaid as ATT and APN broadband,
selected that, works good on "LTE"
Hmmm. Next dumb question for NETGEAR gurus...
Since ATT is supposedly shutting down LTE in January 2022, how do we manually tune to 4G or equivalents? I understood the MR1100 has that capability, but not 5G?Act NOW - 3G is Going Away in 2022 - Wireless Customer Support (att.com)
- Bas123Jan 24, 2022AspirantGot this message a few days ago after having this issue. ☹️

Glad to know that the device works for you now!. You don't need to worry about 3G shutting down in AT&T. Actually, LTE is another name for 4G. So the device will no tbe impacted since in major markets, AT&T has LTE coverage. I don't think you can find 3G network to use.
Thanks

Thanks

MR1100-100NAS (North America Unlocked) Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8(3G), 12, 20, 29, and 66 - KS1256Jan 24, 2022Aspirant
Thanks, John! for clarifying shutting down 3g but NOT LTE (aka 4G ).
I posted an additional comment about tweaking bands in the MR1100, and I wonder how that might be applied in areas roaming on ATT partner networks, or possibly in busy other areas in order to maximize thru put where alot of users might be sucking up bandwidth.

By the way for other MR1100 users there is a great review and more detail here:
Which links back to Netgear for community support as well.
There is also a paid subscription area for more indepth and up to date reviews on various other topics for digital nomads...well worth it if you are looking for comprehensive overview and drill down detail for your needs.

Since M1 support combining multiple LTE bands, which is call carrier aggregation, to achieve higher throughput, we don't suggest the customers to play around with the LTE bands support on the device, so we really didn't provide the such capability on UI. If LTE bands are messed up, the device may not achieve the ideal throughput supported by the device and network. The FW will handle this automatically in order to get the best throughput.
