MR1100 Tether and Charge

I have the nighthawk MR1100 router setup to use the USB port as a tether option connected to an SDWAN appliance as an emergency internet connection if primary and secondary circuits fail.  However, the USB connection from the appliance is not providing power to the USB C connection on the MR1100 so it keeps going dead.  Are there any options/possible ways to charge the device while having it connected to our appliance for tethering knowing that the appliance will not charge the MR1100?
