MR1100 Will No Longer Work With a Battery

After about 2 weeks my MR1100 will no longer work with a battery.  If the battery is inserted while the modem is plugged in and working it will shut down.  If the unit is off and battery is inserted it will show a battery icon with a lighting bolt and the lights will flash blue and red.  Sometimes it will show a message that says "Code 3 remove battery".  

 

The until still works without the battery but we're in a sitation where we would like to get mobile with it so a battery would be helpful.

 

Anyone else have this issue?  I've done some research and it looks like some folks have reported similr issues with the battery but not exactly the same.
