MR5100 connect to mesh router with ethernet cable

As opposed to USB Tethering, I would like to connect my MR5100 to my google nest router via the ethernet cable, and therefore only use the MR5100 as a modem.

Is this possible?  If so, how?

Thanks,

Adam

  • I'm not sure about the Google Nest router but I do use Google Home devices and app.  I have an MR5100 as my internet, and takes care of DHCP, that the ethernet cable is tied into my Cisco 28 port gig switch for our house.  When the ethernet stays connected, it's great but, it seems like after an hour, maybe 3, maybe 10 hours, etc., it just decides not to send anything out the ethernet.  I would like to know if there's a log file that could show what's going on with it to make troubleshooting a little easier.

Are you going to have the 5100 handle DHCP or the Nest?
