MR5200 - Mobile Broadband Disconnected (EE)

Hi, I realise that this has been discussed many times before, but I can’t seem to find an actual answer that solves the issue.

I am trying to use an EE (UK) 5G enabled data SIM in my MR5200, but I am not able to make a connection. I keep seeing the message Mobile Broadband Disconnected. I have checked the APN settings for the SIM and I am certain that they are correct. I have tested the SIM in an M1 router and it works without any issue.

The firmware is NTGX55_12.04.17.00 and the SKU is MR5200-100EUS, hardware version is 1.2

Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • Hey there Sparky, took copious amounts of Adderall and time, possibly a lil bit of insanity to brute force my way past this "Mobile Broadband Disconnected " nuisance as Netgear and AT&T sure the hell were no help and no one else for that matter really although I did find tiny bits of usable I bet I did find tiny bits of usable trinkets along the way and expanded upon them. I am not a techie guy this isn't my bag but I was determined to a crazy person level to get past this because in my world things don't go from working to not working for no reason and there be no way to reverse it. There are actually several ways to resolve this however none of them stay or make any sense or our intuitive at all and will seem absurd but yet I would bet they're going to be very many people I will find resolve if they try this crazy things that I'm about to say. In the early days of my time with this problem I found that if I change settings that have nothing to do with anything that makes sense in regards to this problem and reboot and then change back then change different ones and reboot , essentially to change the router from any and I mean any setting for example turning on the always on Wi-Fi if off and off if on and then reboot or shut off your roaming data and your mobile data and then reboot any number of things like this and then what you're going to do next is turn them back to the way they were and then reboot and hopefully it won't take too many of these Cycles until you all of a sudden miraculously see "connected". My experience with these very temporary fixes was that whatever the last thing that seemed to "do" it , will not continue to be the thing that does it but then another one will and once you go through I guess all of them that's it then those ones in my experience with it won't work anymore. Those were the early days when those quit working with copious amounts more of Adderall in and  time and insane determination and above all refusal to lose, I noticed something. I don't know what it means but it's verifiable, in fact you should probably check this first before you try anything because if this isn't  present then maybe ignore my entire rant here. I found that the actual problem lies in the ipv4 and IPv6 code or rather lack thereof lots of people think that it's after update or reboot but really it's whenever the router loses power. To be clear the mobile broadband disconnected is in a sense synonymous with there being no ipv4 or IPv6 numerical values . The ipv4 will have four 0000 and the IPv6 will be blank, or I guess it could be said when you are connected there will be many numbers in both the ipv4 in 6 areas that aren't there when it's not connected .So if you change a setting and it has to reboot ,your burnt ,if you drop it and the battery comes out, you're burnt, anytime it loses power it will revert back to mobile broadband disconnected after you become with this problem and so you have to trick it back into working.. as crazy as that sounds ,here's how you do it. Like the previous temporary fixes this one actually lasts a little while , you have to enter a new APN setting and it's name is" fix" and the APN setting itself is B2B static and thenauthentication "none "and then the ipv4 and 6 for the other two reboot and it's quite possible that your thing will be working and if it becomes not working simply switch back to your original APN and maybe that will do it or back again and then that will do it. I myself have four five APNs that I put in there which is kind of tricky to do because it won't let you do it if it thinks they shouldn't be there, so like phoneAPNs I found are some that can't be entered in I think they turn red , again as crazy it's going to sound, I made a few up and to my surprise the damn things worked. Name: ATT -APN: nr broadband AUTHENTICATION: none IPV4/6 for the other two. Now the pap, chap, pap/chap can be chaged settings and used like in the olden days of this nuisance.  Another is Name:ATT-APN: att static AUTHENTICATION:none ipv4/ipv6 for the other two. Dont forget to save at bottom. Now with a couple APNs in there, switch to one and change one of the settings like from the olden days and then reboot. If it works, cool, you'll find that the ipv4 and the IPv6 numerical values are in there ,you can now switch to the other APN settings to see how they work out for you but it's possible that they might not have internet but you can connect to them and this will not incur a reboot. If it doesn't work switch to a different APN and then you could either reset the setting that you previously changed back to what it was or change the different one all together and then reboot and then just repeat this process until all of a sudden you see that it's connected and then of course go in set the settings to how you want them but just make sure they're not ones that will make you have to reboot it because then you'll be sad. Just remembered I actually made a YouTube video of me doing this http://www.youtube.com/@danielpayne8943 and its called Unlimited Data Plan Resurrection on Netgear NightHawk . Only reason I came out here tonight is because and again it's crazy that's going to sound I think that either next year or AT&T remote killed black screen bricked whatever my device and I was wondering if anyone else had that problem I literally watched it go from working to not working never to be able to turn back on again and yes I know about the damn battery in and out and everything else, but while I was here I thought I'd share. You're welcome all 🍻. P.S. also figured out how to "fix"  Dell's plugged in not charging nuisance.
