MR5200 - want to operate without AC220V and battery - only via USB on 12V boat
Hi all, I have a boat with permanent 12V supply, but no AC220 and I do not want to use the battery. I have a USB charging port for iPhones or so...
1. can I use the USB plug in the MR5200 to operate without the AC 220 charger ?
2. what would be the requirements to the USB plug on the boat ? (V and mA ?)
Thanks for feedback.

You can use it without the battery. The guide here recommends removing the battery if leaving powered all the time.

The only issue I can see that might cause issues is the charger for it is a quick charge device that supports 5v-12v charging at up to 15 watt. So a quick charge car charger (cigarette lighter outlet) might work fine if you can hardwire in a quick charge compatible charger with the proper specs.
Most of the standard car chargers only connect and charge at 5v. So you'd have to make sure you got one that supported the 12v charging ability.
I don't have one to test with though to confirm if it'd work.
