MR6500 Offline Firmware Update

Currently, I am stationed in Baghdad Iraq and I purchased a couple of used MR6500 Routers. I am looking to find away to update the firmware from here. Does anyone have the files to do so? I have looked almost everywhere I can not find them. Any assistance with this is greatly appreciated.

Thank you...

  • I've been trying to figure this out for a while.  I found a guy who creates his own firmware for the various MRx series of hot spots, but I've not gone down this road yet.  I'd prefer a firmware upgrade that was designed specifically for the modem I purchased, but when you unlock one of these modems it still will only be able to grab software updates from the original Provider the device was built for.  For me that is AT&T, but no matter what I do I cannot get the devices to download any updated firmware.  I've tried setting it up with an Ethernet WAN connection but still can't download any updates from AT&T.

    Good luck....

Im having the same issue through AT&T. Ive tried with ethernet offloading, through the web interface, on the actual device and still only get "there has been an error downloading firmware, try again later". I habe just let it do its thing and I have been getting the same message on the device, like it is trying to automatically download it, but obviously there is some sort of error happening. Any advice? New procedure or offline file we can use?

I've not found a solution for this problem on the MR6500 that I have.  I have root access to the underlying operating system now, and have been studying the firmware search process to see if I can manually trigger this process and get past the bug or limitation that is causing it to fail.  If I figure something out I'll let you know here.

  • Did anyone figure this out yet?

The resale of equipment should not be allowed if it can not be properly supported.

I have 2 of these and one has the correct firmware on it and the other has old and I keep getting this error.

Any additional access I can get would be helpful in re-purposing this for something useful.

    This is just sad support.

  • If not on an ATT network, unfortunately you wont get any firmware updates.... Only thing I can think to ask is IF cell phone is an ATT sim, it could be used as a temp solution to get an update
