ndo APN not allowed on MR5100

Hi.  Any idea why an AT&T MR5100 would say "This APN is not allowed on this device." when I enter 'ndo' as the APN?  I'm trying to get the MR5100 to work with Cricket and 'ndo' is the Cricket APN.

Thanks.

  • This usually happens because the Netgear Nighthawk M5 MR5100 firmware enforces a whitelist of allowed APNs tied to its original carrier (AT&T). Even though Cricket runs on AT&T’s network, the device can still reject certain APN values—like “ndo”—if they’re not recognized or permitted by the device profile. In many cases, AT&T-branded hotspots restrict manual APN entries or only allow specific ones pushed via the SIM. It can also be triggered if the SIM isn’t fully provisioned for hotspot use, or if the device is still carrier-locked or using stock AT&T firmware. A common workaround is to try the standard Cricket APN settings (often “internet” instead of “ndo”), ensure the device is unlocked, or flash generic/unbranded firmware if available, which removes those APN restrictions.
