I'm not entirely sure if N78 is not working, but even with manual carrier selection, my device only recognizes 4G (while Korean phones show very strong 5G signals in this area) and does not detect 5G at all. After searching various local forums, I found that some overseas carrier-locked devices may have a sort of region lock, which makes me suspect that N78 might be restricted. So, I'm asking if there is a way to force N78 activation or remove the allow list(region restrictions) through firmware modification or debugging.

I don't have an M7, I have an M6, and I suspect the FW are probably working about the same way. If it's an ATT M7, which from what I know, is the only M7 in the market right now, then the 5G radio is very likely NSA mode only. SKT might be operating their n78 on SA mode, i'm not sure, or it could be both SA and NSA mode. I know the ATT FW has no SA mode in their 5G because ATT has no SA 5G implementation in the US, so very likely you can not force an n78 SA connection. When it's connected to 4G, your n78 5G could also be connected in NSA mode, but there is no way for you to tell for sure because the web GUI has no ability to display what specific bands are connected to the tower.
- YoungJoFeb 21, 2025AspirantI agree with you. SKT operates both 5G-only SA mode and 4G+5G NSA mode. So, as you mentioned, if the AT&T M7 doesn’t support SA, it could appear as if it’s not connecting to 5G at all.
However, if it were actually connecting in 5G NSA mode but displaying as 4G, the download speed should be somewhat decent. On a smartphone in NSA mode, the download speed is around 100–200 Mbps, and in 5G priority mode, it reaches 1 Gbps. But on the M7 Pro, it only gets around 20 Mbps at the same spot. TT

For NSA not working in S Korea, that is because ATT M7 doesn't support the following LTE bands: 1, 3, 5, 7.
For your case, it may be better to get Telstra MR7500 for using in your country. Or you have to wait for next MR with 5G SA enabled.
- YoungJoFeb 21, 2025AspirantAccording to the M7 Pro manual, the Mobile Band Specifications section states that the Nighthawk M7 Pro (model MR7400) supports the following bands:
4G/LTE bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 14, 28, 29, 30, 40, 46, 48, 66
5G NR bands: n2, n5, n12, n14, n28, n29, n30, n48, n66, n77, n78
Since it explicitly lists LTE bands 1, 3, 5, and 7 as supported, am I misunderstanding something?
And is there a possibility that the M7 Pro could support 5G SA through a firmware update?
