Netgear MR1100 disconnects ethernet when plugged in to power source

I've tested this multiple times on several devices with several different ethernet cables. The MR1100 has an internal battery, and an usb-c cable power supply. When the modem is plugged in the ethernet port does not work, when on battery power it works just fine. Please help, thanks.

    Update (kinda): the power cable im using is the one that came with it. it will not charge with any other usb-c cable i've tried.
