Netgear NightHawk M1

PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME WITH MY M1 HOTSPOT....I purchased this with the sole intention of plugging it into my xbox directly for faster connection and better ping. However, in the beginning i found out that the ethernet port was not for connecting to my xbox and that i was supposed to use the USB Type C (The charging Cable) To tether to my XBOX...I have tried this but when I check in my xbox settings it still says connected via WIFI NOT Direct connection. Side Note: One time i connected to my xbox with the ethernet cable and the xbox did switch to direct connection. But then that stopped working. I have been on the phone with ATT for hours ; tried contacting NETGEAR and tried reading all the forums but no luck. How can i plug the Nighthawk to my xbox nd have a wired connection that works? Thank you
