Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro MR6550
Dose anyone know if I plan on taking my Nighthawk M6 Pro 6550 to Indonesia 🇮🇩 when I go to Bali If It will work there. Says it was made in Indonesia and is compatible with the network. But since the product was made there Is the IMEI already registered to work there or do I need to pay the 40% tax on it like I did with my phone.
Will anyone who has taken this exactly model of hotspot to the country or a Netgear staff who knows the regulations and if there factories automatically have there IMEI’s registered in Indonesia before they are shipped to the US for sale.
Thank you!

MR6550-100PAS (which sold in USA) has following bands supported :
LTE: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B12/B13/B14/B25/B26/B28/B29/B30/B40/B41/B46/B48/B66/B71
NR5G: n2/n5/n7/n12/n14/n25/n29/n30/n38/n41/n48/n66/n71/n77/n78/n260/n261
MR6550-100APS (Which sold in European/Asia/Australia) has following bands supported:
LTE: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B13/B14/B18/B19/B20/B26/B28/B38/B40/B41/B42/B66
NR5G: n1/n2/n3/n5/n7/n8/n20/n28/n38/n40/n41/n71/n77/n78/n79/n257/n258
Indonesia has
LTE: B1/B3/B8/B40 (not all carriers has full of bands, but B1/B3 is the majority)
NR5G: n1/n3/n40/n257 (not all carriers has full of bands, but n1/n3 is the majority)
Device wise, MR6550-100APS has better fits, and for the SIM card, suggest to go with local SIM which has hotspot data supported, don't go with your US SIM card for internaltional roaming (pretty expensive)
All devices from USA has no better fits for NR5G service in Asia, you would need to get it from the other country.
- Well I see the 6550 is made only for the United States 🇺🇸 regional 5G NR and supports none of Indonesia’s 🇮🇩 5G NR that kinda sucks but most of there 5G network is not deployed also I see they do have a model for Indonesia 🇮🇩 and the rest of ASIA.
My problem here is and I really hope the Developers at NETGEAR see this comment. “Y’all should makes these hotspots Global”. I’d pay $2,000 for it if you combined the USA and ASIAN versions the prices tags 🏷️ are already hefty and even iPhone 15 supports Both USA and ASIA’s 5G NR and mmWaves.
To end this I really hope NETGEAR continues to develop good high quality products I have always been satisfied by them and I hope the NETGEAR Team Works to Make an Entirely Global Device even if cost reach $2,000 per unit!- Hmmmm523Aspirant

fwiw, I just returned from a trip and used this in 2 asian countries + Australia. 5G SIM / connection with no issues.

The device was MADE but not SOLD in Indonesia. Therefore, if staying more than 90 days / not as a tourist, you would have to register the IEMI with Indonesian govt (and then pay the 40% tax)
- Man that really sucks you would think any device made there would already be registered at the factory at a hefty price tag of $1000 a 40% tax would be $400 I could buy a solis for less then that. Anyways thank you for your help with finding me answers to my questions.
