Netgear Nighthawk MR100 Hotspot ATT Unlocked

Hello.  I purchased an unlocked ATT Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 off Ebay.  I tried using a data only plan sim card from Cricket wireless.  Before installing the SIM there was an message on the Hotspot stating "SIM not installed".  I loaded my SIM card in but now getting message "Mobile Broadband is Disconnected".  Please help.
