Nighthawk LTE Work on Verizon
Hi.
Does the Nighthawk LTE Hotspot work with Verizon (US)? Can I just get a prepaid sim card from them, plug it in and away I go?
Thanks!
Good question. Is your mr1100 unlocked? If it is the AT&T version you will need to request an unlock code from AT&T.
In terms of Verizon, it should, but it may or may not work that well. AT&T and Verizon use many of the same LTE radio bands, but some of their configurations (sub blocks) and CA combinations are different.
My mr1100 can see both the Verizon and T-mobile networks when I change from Auto to manual network scan. But, I don't have a Verizon SIM to try. I do have a tmobile SIM, but honestly haven't tried it (I have unlimited AT&T).
You will also have to change the APN from the AT&T default to the Verizon APN settings. I've read some reports that the mr1100 has a bug and doesn't save "non-standard" (aka non primary carrier APN's). But I don't know if this is true. If it is, you'd have to re-enter it every time you restarted the hotspot
