Nighthawk M- series hotspot ethernet port - only works with battery removed?

I have watched some reviews and am considering and M6 Hotspot. One reviewer said the ethernet port only works with the battery removed? That does not make much sense to me and would nerf the functionality quite a bit.

    I have the Mr6110 and ethernet works fine with the battery in it. Problem is if your planning on leaving it powered 24/7 they recommend removing the battery.
