Nighthawk M1 WIFI connect problem from Android Phone

Hello all,

We have a NetGear Nighthawk M1 router and we are facing the following problem :

  • When we use the router in Indonesia  with a Dutch SIM-card, it does not setup a connection with the internet.
  • We assume that this is caused by a wrong APN in the network settings of the Nighthawk.
  • To change this setting we want to use the Android NetGear Mobile app from an Android mobile phone.
  • To be able to do this, the mobile phone must have a WIFI connection with the NetGear.
  • Here something strange happens… when we select the NTGR_2286 WIFI connection from the NetGear on the Android phone, it does not ask for the WIFI password, but the login screen for the NetGear mobile app appears. (‘Enter local credentials’ - default account/password = admin screen). It is not possible to login to the NetGear as there is no WIFI connection. For this reason we cannot change the APN.

Does anybody know why the Android phone does not setup a normal WIFI connection with the NetGear by asking the NetGear WIFI password which is available on the display of the NetGear ?

Best regards,

Bart

The admin log in password should be printed on the device' product label under the battery. Based on the info, your phone is already connected to the M5 via WiFi.

    Thanks
