The modem operates, but when, on my browser, I go to "192.168.1.1/index", the username is: 'admin', then enter the device password but the login fails. The message in red says 'admin' is incorrect....
The default admin password is 'admin'.
That should work unless you changed it during the initial setup.
If you can't remember what you changed it to, see p.75 of following doc for details on how to reset your default password:
