nighthawk m2 - compatability with D6300
Hello tech heads,
I have a Netgear D6300 with connects 3 computers, 2 printers and wireless laptops & sons PS4.
Old WIMAX network was shocking, so have just purchased a Nighthawk M2 to replace the old wireless transmitter to the local pole.
The d6300 is connecting all computers & printers via cable and all work.
However the D6300 wont connect to the M2 internet via ethernet connection.
Newest computer & laptops are talking via wifi to M2.
Im not sure what to do to make the D6300 connect the internet from the M@.
Pleasw help.
Thanks in advance

Hey, can you provide the firmware version and SKU (is it from telstra)? You can find this by going into the webui (go into web browser, enter 192.168.1.1, default username is admin, default password is admin). Then go into settings > Nighthawk M2 Status > Devices.
To troubleshoot...
1) to figure out if the M2 is the problem or the router - have you tried plugging in the router directly to a computer or to another router to see if that works?
2) one feature of the M2 to conserve battery is that it sleeps the ethernet when there is little activity. If you are plugging the ethernet cable in while it is sleeping, then you will get no connection. You can turn this feature off by going into the webui, Settings > Setup > Mobile Router Setup > Ethernet Standby and set this to DISABLED. By default it is set to 2 minutes.
3) It is possible that the D6300 is the issue - have you tried resetting the device? https://community.netgear.com/t5/DSL-Modems-Routers/D6300-Cannot-connect-to-internet/m-p/1495827#M22128
4) if you are using the M2 as a router and the D6300 as a router - you could end up with double NAT issues https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT . You could try enabling IP passthrough so the hotspot is only a bridge that provides wan connectivity. You can do this by going to webUI > settings > setup > mobile router setup > IP PassTHrough > ON . In bridge mode, the M2 will only act as a modem and it will not provide wifi. It's possible that you were running into ip conflict problems? Perhaps the netgear router and the netgear M2 both are the same IP (ie. 192.168.1.1).
let me know what you find.
Thanks
