Nighthawk M2 :Use without battery

M2 router is always stationary in home. Manual recommends using without battery. My question is, on removal of battery and connection to the adapter how should I store the battery apart from the obvious, eg, away from sun and damp, should the battery be kept partially charged(intermittent charging) to prolong its life or just left to run flat?
