Nighthawk M5's public IP

Hello,

 

I have a M5 modem that I have connected to my laptop via ethernet, and I'm trying to find the public IP of the modem. Using "whatismyip.com" it shows 69.155.246.25 but when I go to the M5's settings, it shows 10.31.56.88.  Why are they different?

    Usually, carriers don't provide the direct IP to your M5 due to security reasons. As I know, some carriers may provide the VPN service with extra cost that allow the customers to access the device via public IP.
