Nighthawk M6 Pro MR6500 Dropping internet
My Nighthawk M6 Pro MR6500 keeps disconnecting from the internet. It will show it has a signal on the device itself but my computer will have no connection. I only use the ethernet port, I don't use ...

I'm still in the AT&T 14 day return/replace, so I'm getting it swapped out to see if that helps any. Thanks for trying with AT&T. (it also has a 1 year warranty).

Could you please report back on this thread whether swapping it out fixed your problem? I returned my mr6150 that was doing the same thing.

Did you get a replacement unit or did you just get your money back and move on? Where did you get your MR6150 from originally?
- sbrady4Jun 23, 2023TutorI’m going to try the replacement first. Mine seemed like it was going in some kind of software loop and getting bogged down and overheating. It would get where you couldn’t even use the touch screen. I’ll let you know if it works better but it will be a while before I get it and get back here where I use it.

I bought it from Netgear, and returned it for a refund after all Netgear remote tech support troubleshooting was exhausted and the service drop issue could not be resolved. The unit probably had a hardware defect, maybe a failing modem because the issue got worse and worse as time went on. I may try and get a good one later, I really wanted it to work.

So I Got the new 6110 replacement device. Set up (without battery and wired ethernet cable) and initially my PC was disconnecting from ethernet every 3 minutes. The Windows 10 network troubleshooter could fix it, and it'd work for 3 more minutes or so. It would say "The default gateway is not available". then it would fix it. I had set the M6 ethernet to 1000Mbps.
I called AT&T and they said try wifi only, maybe something with my PC. It did stay connected with wi-fi. Then I switched to (wired) 100Base-T and it stayed connected longer. So I'll continue testing. The device itself says it has been connected over 2 hours during all this loss of wired connection. I really need the wired connection to work. That was my whole point for buying that router. I want to use it with my own wired router as home network in an area with no phone or cable (and fixed wireless didn't have line of sight), but phone works great and fast where I'll put the hotspot. The first one did work great when it was working - 5G speed for a few hours before freeze up. I'm not at that location now, so can't test in final position until end of next week.
Also: This one came with firmware version NTGX65_10.04.22.00.

Update: It says it stayed connected all night for 18+ hours, and is still working wired with PC, router set on 100Base-T. My speeds are slow though <10Mbps, supposedly on 5g. I am in a weak area - but it shows 3bars and 5G though. Disabled wired connection and got 33Mbps on its wifi. I'm going to turn back on 1000Base-T and see what happens. Update: when I did, the speed went up to 33 like wifi. Let's see if it can stay connected now... It already has been over 3 minutes, which was previous record.

Update 7/9/23: This replacement MR6110 has stayed online 1 day and 20 hours, so the device (with firmware version NTGX65_10.04.22.00) itself is stable compared to the previous one (was NTGX65_10.01.47.00) that I returned to AT&T.
I have been losing connection on my computer when I set the MR6110 LAN port to 1Gps (1000Base-T). Windows troubleshooter can repair it, but it happens again in several minutes. When I set it to 100Base-T it does not lose connection to the router, and has been very good. (I've been using the web interface to make the changes & monitor online time.)
I was having some slow speeds yesterday (<10Mbps), but now am getting 93.3/5.3Mbps on speedtest, so I am happy with that.
I ordered the external antenna, and will set it up in the final location next weekend. I think with the LAN port set on 100 I'll be good to go. Thanks for your help with the first device.

OK, so I set up the replacement device at the remote house with antenna. It seemed to work OK / fast for a while, but I have been having very slow speeds again, below 10Mbps, and upload below 1Mbps. It's almost unusable. I tried IP passthrough mode and it got faster for a while, but is slow again now. It seems hot to the touch. It said 56 degrees C, but now says 48. I'm using LAN port at 100 speed, because it drops connection to Router & Computer with 1000 speed.
I'm hoping I have time to send this replacement back to AT&T.
I'm going to check with JPeng again with Json to see if there's anything else to try.
