Nighthawk M6 Pro turns itself off a couple of times a day
I recently purchased an M6 PRO from Telstra to replace an AC800S that was an always-on service in our home. The AC800S battery swelled and exploded, nearly combusting in the process.... Luckily it dr...

Hi John,
Would that also fix the issue of internet speeds slowing until a reboot?
This may be a different issue. Please provide the following information first.
1. AT&T or Firstnet SIM?
2. Use the device with battery or without battery?
3. How many clients and how clients are connected to the device, WiFi/Ethernet/USB, etc.
4. Please also capture a model.json file and send PM to me.
Thanks
John

Agreeing with the other comments on this thread. The M6 is junk. How dare Netgear sell an $800 piece of crap like this. Who tested it?
JohnPeng I bought this for a road trip and it hasn't stayed running for longer than 20 minutes to an hour max yet. I'm running plugged in WITH BATTERY. AT&T SIM. It's never warm (I've read about overheating issues, but it never feels warm).
Constantly locks up, screen flashes, can't get it to respond to anything, and have to pull power and battery to reset it.
You need to push the fix to this in next 24 hours (or give it to us as beta) or this is getting returned to Amazon.

I think your model is MR6150-100NAS. Please help to capture a model.json file and send PM to me. Would like to see the network conditions when the issue happens.
- Logon to the webui (http://192.168.1.1 ) as an administrator
- Navigate to URL http://192.168.1.1/model.json via the same browser window
- Capture the results (by selecting all + copy) and send it backThanks

My M6 Pro has now decided that it can't find a signal. It just endlessly sits there "Searching" for a signal. Had 5 bars up until today. Worked fine for 5 days (Didn't even have to touch it). Today, I unplugged it and put the battery back in to use as a mobile hotspot.... crash. No signal. Called AT&T and they rest the pin, APN, etc and it worked for 5 minuted before losing the signal again. (I have a 5g iphone with a great signal, same location).
Going to try to take this device back to AT&T tomorrow to swap it out.

Toom mine to AT&T today and it completely froze up and went into a boot up loop.
After an hour and a half, they swapped it out for a new one. (My old one was 11 days old). The new one works! Haven't had any issues with it at all. I will of course report back here if/when this thing catches fire or bricks itself.
- Megga59Nov 20, 2022AspirantMine does the same thing. I removed the battery and just leave it plugged in. It drops signal and says searching. I unplug it and plug it back in it comes back on. Completely random.

Hi, All,
Kindly check for an available firmware update and let us know how it goes.

Community Team - eharbison924Dec 25, 2022AspirantIt has been a total waste of money and time. I am returning mine. And going back to my old wifi hot spot. It has to be better than dropping the signal every time it powers down... though it should not as the battery is out and it is plugged directly into the outlet. Firmware is up to date. It's just a piece of crap to say the least...

New T-Mobile connected Nighthawk M6 6500 crazy slow. Only connects at LTE speed of 4mbs or less. Frequently upload speeds twice that of download. Stayed connected overnight at slow speed. Tried w and w/o battery, tried w and w/o WiFi enabled, tried w and w/o Ethernet enabled, and ALWAYS crazy slow connection. Multiple resets to factory default.
My AT&T IFWA is 10 times faster - this unit purchased to replace that unit, both for reliability and greater connection speeds. Verizon MiFi dropped out reliably, but always had good speeds of 15mbs or better w two bars (~110dbm). This unit has 4 bars (~104dbm) and is dead slow, but reliably so. Model.json file available upon request to support.
M6 fails to connect for firmware update - a common problem it appears. Current version is NTGX65_10.01.47.00 of 2022/07/08. WiFi Mode appears as M802_11_ANAX. I'll look it up, but suspect it is acting perfectly as standard LTE, and I don't know how to fix that. MiFi was unreliable, but this is worse.

One thing to note. It will never connect to the update server as long as it's connected to the T-Mobile network. All firmware is pushed down from AT&T weather the device is locked or unlocked to a network. The device needs to be registered with AT&T.
If connections speeds are still slow using AT&T, you could try this method to obtain new firmware:
1. Remove the SIM card and insert a sufficiently charged battery into the device.
2. Press and hold the power button on the top of the device for a few seconds to turn it on.
3. Connect the device to a computer using the USB-C to USB-A cable included in the box.
4. From your computer’s web browser, go to the Web User Interface (UI) of the device at http://attwifimanager. If this fails to load within a few minutes, try http://192.168.1.1. Enter your administrator Username and Password, then click SIGN IN.
5. From the Web UI dashboard, navigate to the SETTINGS tab > General > Internet > click Ethernet + Cellular and Apply.
6. Once the device has finished rebooting, begin physically setting up the Ethernet offloading to the device by determining an available access point to use. In your home, this access point is likely to be the router that you usually use to connect your other devices, such as cell phones and laptop computers, to the Internet.
7. Connect the device to the router using an ethernet (or LAN) cable. Plug in one end of the cable into one of the LAN ports of the router (usually not coloured distinctively and labelled numerically or “Ethernet” or “LAN”) and plug in the other end of the cable into the Ethernet port of the device.
8. On the Web UI, wait up to a few seconds and refresh the webpage to check that the device now has Internet connection via Ethernet.
9. Check for and install firmware updates, go to the SETTINGS tab > Administration > select Firmware Update and click the Check for Updates button.
* Note that you can check for updates only once every 24 hours.
10. The firmware update will start downloading and installing automatically. The firmware update is complete once the device has finished several rounds of rebooting. - JohnPengAug 02, 2023NETGEAR Expert
Please advise your T-Mobile SIM plan. This is a known issue for using T-Mobile Smartphone plan. T-Mobile smartphone plan has 2 tiers of data:
- one is for phone data, usually is unlimited, which has to be used on the phone.
- One is for hotspot feature of the phone. Usually it is limited data. When you use T-Mo phone SIM card on M6, it will use the data for hotspot feature. After you used up the data, the TP will be throttled by T-Mobile to 4G or 3G speed.
The issue you saw with your T-Mobile SIM may be due to the reason. Please check.
