Nighthawk MR1100 - IP Pass Through (FW already updated)
Just got the MR1100 from AT&T after reading the IP Pass Through problem that had plagued earlier firmware was fixed. Well I followed the instruction in the manual, device rebooted, but I am still not getting a public IP on my ethernet connected device. Instead I get a 10.x.x.x address and if I go to the gateway I get from DHCP 10.x.x.1 it is just the same MR1100 device itself; All enabling IP Pass Through seems to do is start giving me DHCP on a different private IP range.
Am I missing a step somewhere? My goal is to connect this to my pfSense firewall to use as a failover for my primary ISP.

The IP address that the M1 passes to your connected device is the IP that is allocated by your ISP. A lot of ISP's are using CGNAT now for mobile, hence the 10.x.x.x IP you received, as the IPv4 numbers are in short supply. If you need a public IP allocated some ISPs will provide it at a extra charge.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case.
1. If it was the ISP (AT&T) doing NAT, my gateway address would still be on the AT&T network, not the modem itself.
2. I am not able to actually pass traffic when I receive one of these addresses, I can access the router itself at 10.x.x.1 but I can not access the internet at all.

A quick and easy way to determine if your ISP is using CGNAT is to set the M1 up as a normal router not using ip passthrough at this stage. Go to the webbrowser dashboard then to settings>network>ipv4= "address your Isp allocates to you". Now if this is in the 10.x.x.x. range then it is a private IP , you can confirm this by typing in google "what is my IP" and noting that your public IP is different to the one you are allocated. This is basically your ISP using a CGNAT system if so. You can note that your gateway address = 'your modems internal IP to your network' , probably 192.168.1.1. Sorry to digress.So let me check what is happening , what you say is the 10.x.x.x address is being passed to your firewall router ? When I tested the ip passthrough the 10.x.x.x was passed to my first router. Other devices then had to use that routers internal IP (192.168.1.254, make sure the M1 is not using this address as its internal IP) as a gateway address.I still had internet access. Is this similar to the configuration you are using?
