Nighthawk mr1100 as a mobile modem

I am wondering if it's possible to use my MR1100 as a modem only without the WiFi and connect to an external WiFi router via Ethernet cable. If so, what would need to be changed to make it work? I plan on using my existing ASUS wireless AC1750.
