Nighthawk mr1100 reboots randomly

I have a Nighthawk MR1100 and when we first got it, it was working fine. Its about six months later and for about a month now it’s been randomly rebooting during usage. The most annoying times are when I’m in an online game on my xbox and I’ll have to restart the game. I use the router with it being constantly plugged in and the battery out, because other wise it overheats. It also randomly reboots with the battery in. I can’t contact support and i haven’t found any other people with the same problem.

  • Yeah I'm currently have the same situation.

I got mine new and had no issues with it at my old residence, It happened once when I traveled for work and stayed somewhere overnight but at the time I didnt have much time to worry about it and by the next day I was home where it woked fine (would still reboot but very infrequently).

A few days ago I moved to a new location and I can no longer use the M1...... It's on for 2-5 minuets and then reboots.

This says to me this issue is caused by something to do with the cellular connection because if you take your sim out and connect a device to it (so just conncet the wifi w/out a 4g connection) I'll bet you have no reboots

Don't expect Netgear to help you. It's a known issue and near as I can tell the only fix is a new unit. There is no sight of the issue on their troubleshooting page dispite them knowing of it and Ive heard of numerous returns resulting in "No fault found" when tested by the repair location.

Only suggestions I can give is make sure your firmware is on the latest. You can try a factory reset but that did nothing for me.

Next time you have it connected can you go to 192.168.1.1 in your browser and reply with what cell band yours is connecting to? I can explain how if you doont know how to do that.

I'm in Australia so usually we (sometimes) can get government intervention when it comes to bad communication devices/services sold and I'm going to be requesting an M2 as my replacement....... Too many have had the same issue on multiple M1units.

    Best of luck with it

Do you think getting external antennas to get a better connection to the towers would help?

Nope because it’s getting strong 4g reception. Besides, A lack of/weak cellular connection shouldn’t cause device reboots.
