Nighthawk MR1100 strange battery indicator

I usually keep the battery out of the MR1100 unless it's needed due to the complaints of the swelling issue. Just charged it because I'll be needing the battery and I got a strange icon after it charged. First of all, looks like "full" charge is only about 70%, but look at the battery indicator in the attached pic... looks like a smoking hot battery with an X through it!

Does this literally mean the battery is shot!?
