NightHawk MR1100 Strange WiFi 2.4 Ghz behaviour
Hello,
The WiFi chipset in this device should be able to fly on 2.4 Ghz, but something's off with the way it's been configured... On my MR1100 device WiFi performance on 2.4 Ghz occilates between fast and slow, as if the chip can't make up it's mind as to which rate to support or some buffer setting just isn't quite right. There are no other WiFi networks on 2.4 or 5 Ghz near me.
I've never seen any WiFi router do this. It's not the cellular network as 5 Ghz is fine and there is barely any usage up here on the tower up in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Rock solid with my cell.
I should note this is when I'm in the other room from the router, if I'm in the same room it doesn't exhibit this behavour. Still something's off with it's firmware / configuration of the Atheros chip in it.
you can take the tool Netspot, https://www.netspotapp.com/netspotpro.html, to check if there are 2.4GHz devices around you, Bluetooth devices would also impacts 2.4GHz WiFi
