where did you purchase this if I may ask? the original power adapter that comes with these hotspots are branded NETGEAR, with model number AD2122F20. It may seem like you don't have an original charger brick. also check the cable you're using. if you post pictures of your power brick and cable, I can tell if they are OEM or not. The original power brick and cable has no problem powering this device without battery.

Thank you for the reply. I purchased the item as a renewed item from Amazon. I suspect that whoever made the return substituted the wrong charging brick when they made their return.

That i am not so sure if netgear sells them (you might want to chat with support). You can also power this with some decent QC3.0 charging brick from a reputable brand. I have several power bricks I have tried with this model, as long as it can output 2A or more, and you are using one of those USB-C cables that came OEM with a fast charging phone, you should be okay. OEM is ideal, but I have this work with a lot of 3rd party cables and bricks. You just have to find which one works.
