Portable wifi hotspot for remote worker

Dear fellow travelers. I was wondering whether anyone of you in the solotravel group knows a thing or two about portable WiFi hotspot devices which gives you internet access anywhere. Also in remote places. Maybe you're a digital nomad as well?

I'm a freelance translator working remotely and relocating to Central and South-America for a while. My main worry is internet (basic surfing, social media, WordPress editing, Gmail, no heavy up - or downloading.) I don't wanna jeopardize my job because of bad internet. I'll be anywhere, mostly cities with better coverage, but most likely also in small towns and occasionally on long public transport rides.

Any help would be much appreciated, fellow travelers!
