R7100LG problem with firmware update and DOS attacks

Hello everyone,

Has anyone experienced a problem with updating firmware of this router and connecting to the internet afterwards?

Router gets 4G connection with any firmware that has modem version 1.0.6, but any newer firmware that has modem v 1.0.8 or newest 1.0.9 receives no mobile internet signal at all. Tried with different SIMs as well. After downgrading to 1.0.6 problem disappears and the internet is back on.
Obviously multiple factory resets were performed after each reinstallation.

Also the problem I am trying different firmwares is that I get flooded with DOS attacks(which I suspect as false positives basically) but it stops my WIFI on all connected devices every 1-2-3 hours. Pretty anoying as you get disconnected from whatever you are doing at that point for like 30 seconds. I've seen multiple topics here regarding that, but no solution apparently?
I turned off DOS protection in WAN settings, but that makes zero difference. Also tried to stop router logging all the info regarding these attacks, but they still take place, just no logs, so no difference.

Just bought this router and it looks like my first and last hookup with netgear. My TP link worked just fine, but I was hoping to find something more high end to possibly get better internet speed out of my mobile network. Looks like it wasn't the right way...

Anyone with similar problems who possibly managed to fix any?

Thanks

  • While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

    Mobile Routers, Hotspots & Modems

Those things are very different from the standard Netgear routers covered in this section.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

    Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
