You bought an ATT branded device from ATT. While manufactured by Netgear, the functionality can be defined and restricted by ATT. Unclear to me who is supposed the support over there in the States - I'm tempted to state it's ATT (but hey I'm Swiss).

The AT&T MR1100 Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot Router User Guides and Documentation does not have any indication on a remote management access option.
In an earlier discussion on Nighthawk M1 MR1100 - Remote WAN Admin? ArodiD mentioned the feature could be evaluated - however there was no confirmation ever.

Arlo, ReadyNAS ReadyCloud, Netgear's Access Anywhere (the new name for non-mobile router remote administration) and many more toys make use of cloud communication - in no case a direct connection to the router public (!!!*) IP is established.
*The majority of mobile providers as well as more and more fixed line/fiber/cable TV ISP migrate to carrier grade NAT or provide even private IP addresses not reachable from the Internet. The effective usability of a direct remote access would be rather limited for most mobile network and data subscribers.

Just like a mobile phone (leaving alone the voice side), these devices are created to surf the Internet - neither to have an exposed management interface to the public, nor to have such a service exposed to the wild Internet.
No doubts - and requested several times - some remote or cloud management options would be nice.

Genie is a dead horse, and the Nighthawk App isn't intended for the mobile routers, despite of the same "name". There is a Netgear Mobile App for the newer Netgear Mobile router administration - but again it's made to be local, there is neither cloud based (to stay with Netgears new designation) Anywhere Access nor the ability to expose a remote management interface service to the wild Internet.

Nobody said or documented anything else. This is a commodity access to the router from the local [W]LAN freeing up from the need to find the routers IP address resp. the LAN default gateway.
Interesting, there is no short FAQ for the Netgear 1st level support making it simple, stating: Sorry, there no remote management access available on this product.
