Smarty -enabling roaming

Smarty says  a one off change is required to phone settings for roaming to work abroad.... The key change is in phone settings: mobile data network change the mobile data and MMS APN to mob [dot]asm [dot]net

AC797 just has a enable roaming 'radio button'... and apparently no opportunity to change the APN... or does anyone know better?
