Why would Nighthawk X4S reset wireless network names overnight
Two days ago, I bought and configured a Netgear extender to enhance my Nighthawk's wireless range. No problems for two days.
This morning, I wake up and all my devices are offline. After an hour of troubleshooting, I realize it's not my Internet service -- it's that my wireless network (previously called Superfast) has defaulted back to "Netgear32" naming convention.
I haven't even looked at my router since adding the extender, so I'm confused as to what could have caused a factory reset overnight. (More confusing is the lack of router logs going back more than 4 hours.)

You have the C7800? And that was the one that reset and not the extender?
It might have been your isp that updated the device and reset it. The ISP controls the firmware and provisioning on modem/router combo devices.
Fyi you posted in the mobile routers section. Not the modem/router comob device or even the extender forum.

Thanks -- I'll repost over there in a minute.
For the record, this is the R7800 and is a wifi router only (separate cable modem) so ISP doesn't have any control over the device.
