will my Canadian MR1100 work in Kenya

We're travelling to Kenya soon, and I am trying to figure out if I can take my MR1100 with us, and use a locally purchased SIM chip. I have used this MR1100 with great success in Canada, so it works on the local technology, but Kenya uses GSM/CDMA. Any thoughts?
