How to limit port speed on M5300 switch
Hi,
I have a pair of M5300 switches (stacked), and on one of its ports I have a device that sometimes saturates our 100Mbit/s uplink. Its traffic is legitimate (remote backups) but it impacts everybody's network. I do not want to limit it to 10Mbit/s (too slow) but would love to limit its port speed to something closer to 80Mbit/s, leaving around 20Mbit/s for general internet use.
We upgraded from a GS724T to these M5300, and the GS724T had a very obvious way of limiting port speed. I am fairly confident that this can also be done with the M5300, but I cannot find how to do so.
If worst comes to worst, limiting by MAC address or IP would also be a solution, but I would rather have a simple per-port limit.
I am running firmware 11.0.0.31 (latest as of this port).
I would appreciate any help to find where I would be able to do this.

Hi mgaudette,
Welcome to the community!
If you want limit the uplink speed based on port on switch M5300. I suggest DiffServ function is available for you.
Below is the config step:
1. Class - Create classes and define class criteria.
Example: Class name is test, and match every;
2. Policy - Create policies, associate classes with policies, and define policy statements.Example: Policy name is p1, Policy type is in, Member class is test;
3. Service - Add a policy to an inbound interface.Example: port 1/0/1, select Policy in name to p1, then click apply button;
For detailed configuration about DiffServ, please refer to Link (page 524)
Hope it helps!
