M4300 - Static Multicast Join

Do any of the managed switch range (I've been looking at M4300) support statically joining a port to a multicast group?  Also referred to on other Netgear switches / previous firmware versions as "Configure Multicast Group Membership"

We have a scenario where a camera that needs to receive multicast PTP is not doing an IGMP Join.  Flooding unknown multicast is not really an option as the camera is also transmitting a multicast stream - which we would not want flooded to all ports.

Thanks,

Glyn

    Hi g_williams ,

Welcome to the Community. I am sorry, there is no static multicast join in our Managed Switches. Instead, we have designed a very intelligent IGMP Plus that "unifies" all switches in the network without any flooding. When we need to "force" the multicast to a specific port, for instance when there is a server that needs to receive and record all mutlicast streams, we establish the mrouter mode on that interface. But I don't think this is what you need here.

Let me tell you about PTP: your camera should receive the PTP Multicast, because these packets are going to a reserved Mutlicast address that is reaching all ports in a VLAN when IGMP Plus is configured. So your camera should receive it, while its own Mutlicast stream would operate with IGMP just normally.
