VLAN Membership vs PVID

The PVID is used for VLAN which is run untagged on the switch port - and does define the VLAN where the untagged switch incoming traffic is associated to.

So, if I only have untagged traffic, is it ok to assign the PVIDs and the VLAN memberships 1:1?
ie. vlan 1 = ports 1-4 untagged, and PVID 1 for ports 1-4
vlan 10 = ports 5-8 untagged, and PVID 10 for ports 5-8
etc...

Excellent example! Yes, this will assign incoming untagged packets (to the switch) to the VLAN 1 for ports 1-4, and the VLAN 10 for ports 5-8. This will set-up the two port set's like independent switches.
