FVS318G
I have an FVS318G that was taken out of service and which I would like to use as both a firewall and VPN in my home network. My Modem is an Altice UBEE connecting to a Google Mesh system. The OS is Windows 11. I have tried connecting the FVS318G between the modem and the router. That provided me without a local network connection and no internet. Connecting directly to the FVS318G I was able to access it and perform a basic setup. Even after numerous restarts, I was unable to establish either a local or internet connection.
I really need some basic help to get things working, or should I just retire the FSV318G?

I understand you are having issues configuring your FVS318G router to work with your network. As per your response, its fine to have the Internet not working yet and you may need to adjust settings on the WAN side. However the router should at least give you a local network since by default the router should provide dhcp on your network upon plugging in a computer. The question is how were you able to configure it accessing its GUI when the local connection is not established yet. I suggest to reset the router first to factory settings and reconfigure the basic settings on wired connection so you can easily established the local network including the Internet. If in any case the router does not build a local connection and will not provide an IP on your network connected via wired through ethernet then there may possibility the router is at fault and needs to be replaced.
