SRX5308 Dual WAN ADSL setup help required

I have the SRX5308, which I purchased specifically to leverage a dual WAN situation.
We are located outside of city limits and the best ISP connection available to us is dry loop ADSL 6.0/0.8 Mbps. We have purchased a second service which is identical to the first. Our total available bandwidth should now be 12.0/0.8 Mbps.

I've setup WAN1 and WAN2 to be in Weighted LB mode, which I thought would actually spread the internet traffic across the two connections. What seems to be happening is that WAN1 handles all traffic until it becomes saturated, then WAN2 is utilized. However, if I haven't recently updated the WAN settings on the router, WAN2 goes dormant (I have it set to remain connected) and will not actually handle any traffic. However, if I have recently changed the modes and applied settings, the router will balance the traffic and pull full available bandwidth.

I can only assume that I have this set incorrectly, and would like very much to hear from someone who is successfully using this router to utilize a Dual WAN setup such as ours.

May want specify the what was the change
  • I've tried several things, and they all have the same effect.
Such as: Configure WAN3 to have the same settings as WAN2 and then physically move the ethernet cable to the WAN3 port from the WAN2 port. That will cause the ISP to give a new session, so I can't really say that this change is doing anything.

Also: Network Configuration>WAN Mode change Load balancing Mode from Weighted LB to Round Robin (apply), or visa versa change from Round Robin to Weighted LB (apply). Also if I change radio button from Load Balancing Mode to Primary WAN Mode (apply) and change back again (apply).

Also: Network Configuration>Protocol Binding if I change any set service from WAN1 to WAN2 (apply) or from WAN2 to WAN1 (apply). I tried setting up protocol binding after reading about the router on the forums. I actually don't want any service to be bound to a particular port, I'd rather just use QOS on my switch to ensure certain services are given higher priority to utilize the ISP bandwidth. The QOS and the switch have not yet been implemented, so is not a concern with this problem.
